The
Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) will hold the 13th
Annual Forum on Mineral Resources Development and Geosciences
on November 5-7, 2003 at the Crispin Hall, Petrolab Building, MGB
Compound, North Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City.
The
theme for this year’s forum is “Mining, Geosciences
and Environmental Responsibility: Working Partners for Sustainable
Development.” Topics of technical papers may be in the fields
of mining, geology, metallurgy, mining environment, social and community
development, policy and other topics/concerns that are of relevance
to the theme and with broad impact to the Philippine Minerals Industry
as a whole.
The
Central Committee for the 13th Annual Forum is now accepting abstracts
or titles of technical papers.
Abstracts
and technical papers must comply with the following format:
•
Written in MS Word ’97 (.doc or .rtf file). Use Winzip 8.0
and its lower versions to compress the files;
• Maximum of 300 words for abstracts;
• Paper submitted both in hard and virus-free soft copies.
Softcopies
of titles/abstracts/technical papers can be e-mailed to planning@mgb.gov.ph
or mesd@mgb.gov.ph or faxed
to (02) 920-9132/920-1635/920-9131 or sent directly to the Director
of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, c/o the Chairman of the 13th
Annual Forum on Mineral Resources Development and Geosciences Central
Committee.
Deadline
for acceptance of abstracts of technical papers is on September
30, 2003. Presentors of accepted papers are required to submit their
papers (both hard and softcopy) to the Central Committee on or before
October 27, 2003 in order to allow the Central Committee to archive
the presented technical papers together with the Forum’s proceedings
in compact discs for distribution. Papers that are not received
by the Central Committee within the prescribed deadline shall not
be presented in the Forum.
Each
MGB Regional Office and MGB Central Office Technical Division is
required to present at least one (1) technical paper.
