MGB submits FY 2014 Budget Proposal via OSBPS
Mines and Geoscience Bureau, June 17, 2013

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) submitted a total proposed budget of PhP1.24 billion for fiscal year 2014 through the Online Submission of Budget Proposal System (OSBPS), as prescribed by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).  The proposed budget is approximately 24% higher, or PhP246 million more, than the PhP 999  million approved budget for 2013.

Of the proposed amount, PhP438.38 million shall be allotted for personal services; PhP635.87 million for maintenance and other operating expenses; and PhP171.12 million for capital outlay.

The increased budget is necessary for the implementation of the priority programs of the government, particularly for the Geohazard Assessment and Mapping Program for disaster risk and reduction and preparedness, groundwater resource assessment, promotion of responsible mining, and increasing the government share from the utilization of mineral resources.

An additional PhP408.71 million is being proposed for the following major activities: 1) geosciences development; 2) monitoring of mining permits/contracts under the Mineral Lands Administration Program; 3) National Small-scale Mining Program; and 4) Mineral Reservation Program.

The submission thru the OSBPS is in response to DBM’s instruction for all government agencies to submit all budget requirements in time for the scheduled Technical Budget Hearings.
