MGB Digitally Welcomes New Employees

As the country continues the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, certain public events are conducted online to comply with the implemented safety protocols. This includes the authorization of conduct of the new employees at the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) to be done through Microsoft Teams, hosted by the Administration Division’s Human Resources.

MGB Joins in the Digital Celebration of the 31st National Statistics Month

The National Statistics Month (NSM) opening was observed on October 1, 2020, pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 dedicated the month of October, every year, to enhancing and instilling nation-wide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value that statistics provide the different sectors of our society. With the COVID-19 pandemic still underway, the opening ceremony was held online via Facebook live.

MGB Shows Support for Philippine TSM Program

On September 16, 2020, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau showed its support for the Luzon and Visayas rollout of the Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) Program via Zoom app. The rollout was comprised of around 50 participants – the TSM Initiative Leaders representing member-companies of the Chamber of Mines of the Philippines (COMP) with projects from the Luzon and Visayas regions.

Technical Working Group Monitors LIPMA

The Technical Working Group of the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB-TWG) of Benguet with representatives from the Mines and Geosciences Bureau-Cordillera Administrative Region (MGB-CAR), Benguet Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (BPENRO), Environmental Management Bureau-Cordillera Administrative Region (EMB-CAR) monitored the small-scale mining (SSM) activities of the Loacan Itogon Pocket Miners Association (LIPMA) last September 3, 2020.

An inspection of the SSM work area and facilities such as the adits, ball mills and tailings were performed and recommendations for improvement were presented to the officers of the association....

Inter-Agency Committee to Establish a River Dredging Zone

Gacad, Jr. convened on September 4, 2020 at Koronadal City, the organizational meeting of the South Cotabato Inter-Agency Committee (IAC), which was created pursuant to Item VII, Section 1 of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Administrative Order No. 2020-07, “Rationalizing Dredging Activities in Heavily-Silted River Channels Pursuant to the DENR-DPWH-DILG-DOTR Joint Memorandum Circular No.1 Series of 2019” (JMC 2019-01).
