• COLLECTION BUILDING AND NATURAL HISTORY STUDIES IN THE PHILIPPINES : An RP-Japan Joint Research Project

Recognizing that knowledge of fossils in the minds of Filipinos and that the state of the Philippine stratigraphy are still in a crucial stage, the MGB sought the partnership of the National Science Museum in Tokyo, Japan for a five-year joint research project geared at enhancing the country’s fossil and rock collections as well as establishing standard fossil reference materials in the Philippines.

As an offshoot of this project, it is further hoped that a museum that will house new and invaluable collections of the MGB and at the same time educate the Filipino populace on the importance of mining and geosciences in our everyday living be established.

• THE HYDROGEOLOGICAL/GROUNDWATER ASSESSMENT OF RURAL WATER RESOURCES OF MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL: A Capability-Building Project
  for the Local Government Staff of Misamis Occidental

  The proposal to undertake a hydrogeological study for Misamis Occidental dates back to year 2000 when the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. 10 (MGB-10) submitted a proposal to the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental through its Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO). The preparation of the proposal was in response to the recommendation of the NEDA Regional Office-10 (NEDA-10) which viewed the activity as an important input in ensuring the sustainability of water supply facilities proposed to be constructed under Philippine -Australia Local Sustainability (PALS) Program funded by the Australian Agency for International Development with the said Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental
  as executing agency.

• DEVELOPING THE IRON INDUSTRY IN CAMARINES NORTE : A Research Study of MGB Region V

  This is a research study aimed at locating the different reported iron occurrences in the province of Camarines Norte. It also aims to present the possible geologic extension of the reported known Iron area based on previous reports and maps.
