advocating sustainable mineral development through the promotion
of Safety, Health, Environment and Social Development in all
operating mines, quarries and cement plants, held the 50th
Annual National Mine Safety and Environment Conference (ANMSEC)
from November 11-13, 2003 in Metro Manila.
With
the theme: “S. H. E. S. at 50: Making a Difference,”
this year’s ANMSEC was highlighted by the Testimonial
Dinner on November 13, which was graced by no other than Her
Excellency, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as Guest of
Honor and Keynote Speaker. During
the affair, PMSEA also present to the President the “Safety
Networking Action Program” (SNAP)—a
program supporting the Government’s efforts towards
rapid and coordinated response to emergency situations—as
the minerals industry’s gift to the Filipino people.
The
three-day conference also featured sports competition, safety
preparedness competitions, mining exhibitions and the Awards
Night recognizing outstanding achievements in environmental
management, mine safety and reforestation program.
